Meetings The
Brazilian Association of Organists was created in Mariana. National
and Latin American meetings of organists and organ makers, as well
as interpretation workshops and festivals like the All the Keyboards
(Todos os Teclados) take place in the city.
In July 2002, the Third Keyboard Week was
held as part of the Mariana and Ouro Preto Winter Festival. Courses,
talks, and concerts provided the public with a unique opportunity
of seeing, comparing, and getting information about different keyboard
instruments. Parallel to this event, Mariana housed the Twelfth
National Meeting of Organists, promoted by the Brazilian Association
of Organists.
From July 11–17, 2004, Mariana housed
the Fourth Keyboard Week – All Keyboards,
bringing together harpsichord, organ, fortepiano, and clavichord
players, promoting an event at the same time artistic and scientific.
With activities including talks, courses, and conferences by researchers
and instrument players from Brazil and abroad, specializing in various
kinds of keyboards, the climax of the event for the population was
the series of concerts played on instruments from different historical
contexts, which provided a true time travel through sounds.
